Next on the Agenda

Wow, I sat down about an hour ago to write this post about my race plans for the weekend. I am running Four on the Fourth on Friday, and a marathon on Sunday. I decided to go back and read last year's report about Four on the Fourth, then the 2006 report. I got sidetracked by all those old posts, and here I am an hour later.

So, as I said, I'm running a four mile race on Friday - there's a good description of the race in the first few paragraphs of last year's report. No grand goals or plans other than to enjoy the experience. Then an easy run with the group on Saturday, followed by the Rattlesnake Lake Marathon on Sunday. I'm breaking my own rule about running marathons in the summer and I'm feeling a bit of anxiety about it. My rule is in place because I do not manage running in the heat well - it brings on all my heart symptoms. Obviously, the question becomes, what in the world was I thinking when I signed up for a July marathon?

I was thinking that a) this race is on the way up to Snoqualmie Pass, and on trail, so it's bound to be cooler, and b) we've been having a lousy summer, weather-wise, so it'll probably rain, and c) it's a cheapie, only $10, so if a miracle occurs and it is hot, I can bail. Eric has decided to ride the course on his bike and support me. If at some point I decide to DNF, he'll help me out. Think positive thoughts for cool weather and good luck!

I've always thought you had an agenda. You can't change me! OK maybe you got me off "Island time" and back "on-time", but that's it!!!! No more changing for this dude.

It will be a fun filled running weekend. Let's face it, it's the fourth of July so historically it's probably going to rain.

weather report confirms rain for Friday, but North Bend looks clear, and a high of 73, so I will hope for cooler weather in the early morning.

I'm totally impressed you're running friday, saturday, AND sunday, WOW!

We are running 4 miles on the 4th also.. ending at Marine on St. Croix.
I do remember wishing for warmer last Jan, Feb, Mar, April... but I don't perk (RUN!) so well when the temp is about 75.
Happy 4th.

Repeat over and over. "Pace smart, drink and eat lots, s-caps." Never heard that from me before, huh. ;-)
