TCM - Short Report (edited)

Finish time by Garmin: 5:29

I had a good day on a tough course. Last year, same course time was 5:52, although last year we took a half mile wrong turn, which certainly added minutes. Also, last year Tacoma was my fourth marathon in four weeks and I was hurting. Had a good day today though!

Eric and I didn't hang around after the race, but I got a call from my friend Barb, who told me I won a raffle (tickets to the Art Museum, and pizza at a favorite restaurant). I thought that was great till she told me I got third in my age group! I told her it must be a mistake, but she read me the time. Haven't seen the official results yet, so it might be 3rd out of three, but so what? That just means I was one of three 50-55 year old women willing to run the marathon. Cool, huh?

I'll write a full report later in the week. Till then....

UPDATE: Reporting in from Wilsonville - just checked results. 5th in my age group, out of nine. Laura - you got fourth! Congratulations! They were awarding five deep, so we both got something!

Nice PR Michelle. I was handing those awards out to the 10k and 1/2er's, you're gonna love it!

Yay for our AG!! I didn't hang around to see what my placing was, and I didn't read about picking up an award (in case I placed)til I got home. I just wanted to get my marathon in so I could sign up for MM.

We older gals rock!! Good job - enjoy your Mother's Day!

Cool Michelle! I understand the awards will be at Fleet Feet after Thursday. If anyone reading this is going by there before Saturday and is ALSO doing the Watershed Preserve 12hr race, let me know. I'll be volunteering at WP and perhaps can get you to pick up my award for a cup o'joe?

Yay Michell and Eric - is a trip to Boston in the stars for Eric next spring???

That was a triple win kind of marathon, the better time, and the placing, and the raffle prize. How nice when they come together like that, you must be happy :).

You hit an AG award? Nice! I have a small bit of regret not being there this year, but I intend to make it up next year for sure.

I didn't know you got lost when you took the early start last year. I remember seeing you about mile 20 while I was doing pacing duties and you looked like you were still enjoying yourself (even with the 0.5 mile extra credit).
