Where has Time Gone?

Whew! This summer is flying by.

Last fall I hit the ground running in my new job. As the months went by, I created a list of summer projects - thinking once the preschools were out for the summer I'd have time to work on them all. Well, summer is half gone and I've only got two things half done....the big one has been moving. Our program was housed off-campus for years, then three years ago, we moved into a portable on campus. This summer we moved up in the world - into the administrative building - with a nice set of offices and a hallway full of storage for our kajillion records. I spent a bit of time in late spring sorting out records and putting them in report binders and packing. Last week we finished packing and moved. Then a couple days went by where we waited for new desks and computer hook-ups. That was all ready on Thursday - I had my office unpacked by Friday at noon. I didn't get to do any unpacking yesterday - instead I attended a state meeting. Today I tried to take care of some essential business, and still get a few boxes of records unpacked. It's much nicer unpacking into new space than packing up!

The other thing that has been occupying my time is the online class I'm taking. It'll keep me busy through November. This class is partially responsible for the lack of comments from me lately. I'm trying to keep up on blogs, but I'm not commenting as much. The other thing that is taking time is Eric and I are actually working on house projects - slowly but surely. And of course, running - races and regular and volunteering - are taking me away quite often. This weekend the excitement is travelling down to Oregon to volunteer at the PCT 50k/50m where Olga is one of the race directors. Steve and Eric will be running sweep, Lorri and I will be working an aid station.

I've finally gotten back to my regular running schedule and am starting to build miles again. Last week I got just over 30 in, if all goes according to plan, this week will be at 32. I'll have to get a run in after Pilates on Friday since I'll miss Saturday morning's run - the challenge will be running Tues-Wed-Thurs mornings, Thursday night and Friday morning. I might need a nap Friday afternoon!

This morning Rick, Emily and I made it out to our beloved hill run. We decided to make it even more of a challenge by lengthening it to eight miles and adding one major hill. This is a killer run - and Emily ran it pushing Megan in the baby stroller the entire way! That makes her one tough runner.

I've got to get off the computer, make dinner and get back on here in time for the scheduled chat in my class. In the meantime, keep running!

The run was not bad but there was one hill that was brutal. Hopefully we will meet you tomorrow.

I know how you feel. I keep thinking of all the things I should be doing to get ready for the school year, but other things have been occupying my time. Knock some of those things off your list. I'm not sure if I will be there Thursday night or not.

I think I need a little nap after reading that. :)

I didn't know you were taking an online class? Or maybe I did and I just forgot...busy, busy girl! It seems we're all so busy right now, where does the time go?

At least you have things you are crossing off the list, and you don't seem too terribly crabby, so you must be juggling pretty well. =)

Have a great time this weekend!

You know you will be sleeping in the car on the way south. I won't keep you awake the whole time.

We'll talk real soon to plan.

Sounds like you need school to start so that you can get a break. A job where chat is part of the assigned responsibilities. Cool.

I know where you are coming from, life gets pretty busy at times - lately I find myself trying to reevaluate priorities, there just isn't enough time to do everything.

I hope you have a little time for yourself to rest & relax in all that you ARE doing and all that you HOPE to accomplish this summer.

Volunteering at the aid stations is very motivating. How fun for you that you get to cheer on family at the same time. :)

If you find that time please let me know! LOL

You are quite the multitasker, all that and still putting in 30 miles. I'm impressed.

Winter's darkness is already giving me the blues and it's not even here yet... Stay, Summer!! For a bit longer than usual this year!!

I bet Emily wouldn't mind if you pushed the stroller for her on the next hill run. ;)

Have lots of fun playing at Olga's race this weekend! Your hilly run sounds great. I think 30 mpw is a great maintenance running goal, so glad to hear that your calf is healed and allowing you to run what you like. Thanks also for the healing energies over on my blog. They really worked!

Sounds like you have a wonderfully busy life all the time Michelle, I think it is great that with all you do in your work and at home that you and Eric find the time for all the fantastic running that you do as well....I'm very impressed.

Oh no summer is half over!!! Yes of course for those married to the school year summer is half over. But remember that around here the best of the summer weather is yet to come: August, September and 1/2 of October! At least in my opinion.

Guess we're all busy this summer. I laughed at your list of summer projects. I have "winter projects" to do, such as cleaning out the basement, only I never do them then, either. Good that you're back to running.

I cannot think of a hill run as beloved. Killer, indeed.
