Let the Adventure Begin

We're heading south today. The best news of the weekend is that Rob will be joining me in my crew duties. I was going to be on my own from some time late at night till the finish - while Steve was pacing Eric. Now I've got Rob to help me find my way and to keep away all the scary things that lurk on dark forest service roads.

Our wonderful friends Jimmy and Suzy have invited us to stay with them at their cabin at Lake Donner till Thursday, then are hosting Steve and Rob as well for Friday night. These are friends from a year spent in Colorado way back in 1978-79. Suzy and I might not get on the phone to each other for a couple years, but once we do the conversation continues right where it left off. I'm very excited to be seeing them for a whole week!

Race day begins with a 3:30 am breakfast and the race starts at 5:00 am next Saturday. Eric hopes to finish in 27 hours. You can keep an eye on his progress at: http://www.ws100.com/ His bib number is 121.

The Graduate will be holding down the home fort while we are gone - feeding dog and cat, feeding self, doing laundry, scooping litter, buying groceries and anything else I can think of. I think we are all a little anxious about his first two weeks on his own. We've got wonderful neighbors who will help him out if a problem arises, and Riley is a good and responsible young man.

I'll try to post again after the race, but I probably won't get much blog reading done, although I am anxiously awaiting Olga's Big Horn report. Good luck to all who have races coming up! And to everyone: run hard, have fun and be good while I'm gone!

Enjoy you WS experience! I think you will enjoy your time there tremendously, and your husband will appreciate you even more than that!

Also, congrats on The Graduate finishing his degree. The homeschoolers must have taught and guided him well!

Report is up:)
Michelle, I am happy your group is the most awesome group Eric could have wished for for this epic run, and I KNOW you'll make it work the way you all intend it to. I am jealous of you all going for this big party and I'll be glued to my computer all day and night. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - this 100M thing is something that is completely crazy, but you all will never be the same, and if at all it's possible to be closer - this will do.
Enjoy it fully!

sounds like a fun challenge - hope all goes smooth.

I am relieved that you will have Rob for company during the night. With a navigator, you shouldn't get lost in the dark and you can protect him from becoming cougar food. (hehe) It will really be nice to see you at Green Gate to break up the long night section.

See ya Friday, I'm soooo excited.

Hi Michelle, I'm back finally. I was pulled into a major project at work and spent 14 days of 12-14 hour days and did not have time or energy to run or blog in that time frame....it's good to be back though....:)
