Reminders...

Well now. You might notice the weight loss counter has changed, and not in the right direction. It's only a half pound, and it's highly possible that it might have to do with our trip to Bellingham, and all my favorite restaurants there. It might also have to do with something I forgot to mention about that trip - my Saturday night dinner. Bread pudding with rum sauce. When it came, it was the size of a loaf of bread - and oh, was it yummy! Steve and Eric worked on it from one end, while I worked on it from the other (and never the twain shall meet, because they were using the same forks they were eating meat with!). The way I figure it, dessert without dinner is less calories than dessert with dinner...

It could also have to do with the s-caps I used during the run on Sunday. I've noticed before that using them pushes my weight up for almost a week. Sunday was only 11 miles, so I only took two, but I seem to hang on to water. I take a tiny dose of diuretic every day as part of my blood pressure treatment, and after I've taken the s-caps, I use a full pill instead of a half. I think it helps a little. I could do that this winter, but I imagine when the heat comes I'll be back to struggling with electrolyte balance, so I probably won't do it then. Regardless, a half pound is no big deal, as long as the upward trend doesn't continue.

I started blogging so I could be a "cool blogger" like Rob, and in doing so, have discovered this wonderful community. I've learned a lot about running, I've met some wonderful people and I've read posts that are so beautifully written that I am awed. I've also read posts that are so wise and insightful that I think about them for days, and I've read posts that have brought me to tears. The last few days, as I've been following one bloggers journey, I've been in tears many times. Life continues to serve up reminders to be thankful for every moment of the day, for the wonderful husband and sons that I have. I am truly blessed - in love, in family, in friendship - both in my daily life and in my blogging life. Thanks for reading.

I don't think we'll ever be able to reach the same level of coolness as Rob! I resemble all of those really cool things you said about other peoples blogs. I am a better person because of our friends.

I say the bread pudding with rum sauce is worth wearing an extra half pound. So has it been a year already? I'd say you are the Ms. Congeniality of blogging runners.

I am so glad you share so much in your writing, because it inspires me, and I've met so many cool people because of you! I thank YOU for writing!

don't sweat the 1/2 pound and enjoy the cake - yum!

Also, I want to say your blog is one of the most inspiring to me maybe because the way you write and live reminds me of my mom but whatever it is I find it inspirational.

Your posts brought me to tears more than once - it's the intensity life gains in your writing, the passion in you so poignant I can feel it, the generosity of your spirit so compelling it moves me, although I have never met you. Sometimes I almost believe I know you.

Yeah, well, look at this cool dude - he sucked us into this and then - pshik - is almost gone:) Do we really thank him or shell we blame him?
Nah, I think we are ok. What's one more addiction on top of a bunch we already have?
Happy bloggaversary - is that where we are heading? I am dumb-headed today from lack of sleep.

I'm glad you've got things in perspective. Half a pound is like a bunch of keys in your purse. (Or something irrelevant anyway).

So you started blogging to be a "cool blogger". Are you there yet?

I think you passed that mark way way back.

You've definitely made your mark in blogland and probably have surpassed my coolness level a long time ago. I mean listen to Thomas, he wasn't even aware that I was cool so maybe I am not very cool after all. Thanks to Wes for sticking up for me though.

You have added your fair share of wise and profound reads to the running blog community. I hope to see you at some point this weekend.

Don't worry about that 1/2 pound. It'll be gone in no time!

I agree with you about this blogging community. It can be inspiring, motivating, and can bring perspective, as well.

And, by the way, you ARE a cool blogger. That's why so many of us like to stop by. :)

Thanks for writing. It's a lot better than being a lurker, huh?

For me, you are the wise and insightful one.

As far as Rob being cool, well maybe... ;-)

It is funny how I think about all of you from time to time when our only real contact is through this medium called blogging. I am looking forward to Eugene for the face the face.

Yes, I luv reading your posts, but lately I just haven't done so and hopefully soon I'll be back.

Wow, you got cougar stories too!! Totally freaked me out, that's for sure. You know, to be honest I never really took it seriously or let it freighten me when I heard of sightings in my area until that I saw with my own eyes! Turns out there's actually 3 seen at the same time recently. Apparently the one I saw is the adult male one!!

Hello!

Blogland is a pretty miraculous place, allowing us to develop connections with people in great geographic disparity because of this silly running hobby.

I enjoy your blog!

Rob is not only cool, he is also a deep thinker!

Your level of empathy for others runs to a level I am impressed with, Michelle. That flows through even this electronic medium.

Reading of Juls' difficulty does make us weep for her and cherish our own special people. Give Eric a big hug today...I'll do the same with Gretchen!

I think you just may be cooler than Rob. : ) Yes, we have so much to be thankful for. I try to remember that everyday but its easy to forget when we get caught up in the day to day.

Olga is right! Rob is an enabler. He got us hooked and now he's dealing in Marathons (Tacoma City Marathon - Volunteer Co-ordinator). We should have the nation declare a war on long distance running events and lock up these hooligans that are pushing these events!

Q - Bad Boys Bad Boys what ya gonna do? What ya gonna do when they come for you?

A - Run

So I suppose my upcoming Slug race isn't the kind of post that will connect to one's inner soul or cause anyone to tear up. Oh well, at least I have a cool wife!
