Christmas Tag

First, an update. Rob is still without power. He said he heard it might be on by Thursday. My sister lives in Redmond and she is without power as well - she was told Friday. I feel very lucky that ours came on so soon.

Thomas tagged me.
1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate, egg nog is too thick and too sweet.
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa brings one big gift per child and it is unwrapped under the tree. All the other gifts are wrapped though.
3. Coloured lights on tree/house or white? Colored! I love colored lights. This year we don't have any outside though...too lazy I guess.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? Yes we do. And let me tell you, it is fun!
5. When do you put your decorations up? Now that the boys are older, we wait till the first or second weekend of December.
6. What is your favourite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? You mean there are other things to eat besides desserts? Who knew?
7. Favourite holiday memory as a child? The Christmas morning that my Grandma looked out the window and said "Look at those horses running down the street." We looked, and they were ours - all three of them. We went out to chase horses in our jammies and barn boots. I don't know why that was so fun, but it was.
8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I refuse to believe anything I hear about Santa.
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Parents don't, kids do.
10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Our tree has old and new, homemade and bought, wooden cranberry strings and beautiful lights. This year Riley and Heather did it all.
11. Snow! Love it or dread it? Love, love, love. That's where the hot chocolate and desserts come in.
12. Can you ice skate? No, but that doesn't mean I haven't tried. When we were kids we'd go to the pond in the woods and skate around in our wool socks. It was way easier than skates!
13. Do you remember your favourite gift? That's a hard one. The ring my parents gave me just before I turned 16? The goofy music box Eric gave me our first Christmas that still sits on my nightstand? The beautiful, brilliant costume jewelry that young boys gave me? There are too many wonderful things to pick a favorite.
14. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? Family and friends.
15. What is your favourite holiday dessert? Fudge, chocolates, pumpkin bread.
16. What is your favourite holiday tradition? Baking with the boys and Eric.
17. What tops your tree? A golden star. I always wanted a star, but early in our marriage my sister-in-law gave us an angel. We used it for years, till I finally found the star I wanted and made the switch. But the boys loved the angel, so she sits on a shelf in our entryway during the holidays.
18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? Giving - when I can find just the right thing. (I won't lie though, I do love recieving as well!)
19. What is your favourite Christmas song? I love all the traditional songs.
20. Candy canes? Yes, the little ones.
21. Favourite Christmas movie? The classic Rudolph from when I was a kid.
22. What do you leave for Santa? Cookies and cocoa and carrots for the reindeer. The boys were amazed to find out that reindeer eat their carrots in little spirals...

No tagging for me, but feel free to join in!

I have my power back. I guess I was not in the area of the people that will not get their power back until Thursday or Friday. Lucky me. See you in the morning.

I love that you bake with your boys. I'm taking the day off tomorrow to make cut-out cookies with the little guy. I can't wait! (and neither can he.) : )
