Last minute details...
There was a little flurry of panic in the house last night. We got home from the hamstring study to find an email from Darcy, one of my relay team members for tomorrow, to find out she had pulled a muscle in her back and couldn't run. Uh-oh. This is late Thursday night, relay is Saturday morning. Panic in the streets! Phone calls and emails ensued. At 10:30 pm, the phone rings - Margaret is calling to save the day! She's in. Eric was relieved - I was wound up tight and talking non-stop (I know that's a shock to those who know me, I'm usually so quiet!). I think he was afraid I'd never shut up and he wouldn't get any sleep. I finally got to sleep about 11:30 - which isn't bad - except I had to be up at 5:00 for Pilates. Eric picked up all the packets yesterday - for all three teams and Rob, which means packet pick-up at our house today. I think all plans are in place for meeting, so everything should go smoothly tomorrow morning.
Also, to clear up my last post - I am planning to run in Alaska. Eric is running the marathon, Riley and I are running the 5 miler. I plan to run while we are there, but I am pretty sure I won't get the second run in on either Tuesday or Thursday, and won't get a long one in. I think Riley and Eric will be anxious to get going each day and not want to wait too long for me. I'll be shooting for an hour run each day. Plus, there's that whole thing about running in a new town - you know, the one where you have to find your way back to the hotel? I will fully admit that I am directionally challenged. Left? Right? Did I see that building on my way out? Which street did I turn on? Hmmmm.... I'll be sure to carry my phone.
Well, I've got tomorrow's race, next week's overnight trip, and next Saturday's race before we leave for Alaska. And I still haven't prepped my syllabus for the summer class. I guess I've got some work to do. Here's my plan for today: One more Pilates class. Eat, drink, repeat. Nap. Eat, drink, repeat. Oh, I guess I'll throw in things like laundry, paying the bills, blogging. Maybe even a little work related stuff. But my main focus will be making sure I get enough fluids and good food in to make it through tomorrow.
Look for the relay report on Sunday. And thanks for checking in!

I am trying to drink lots of water today as well and am having Spaghetti for dinner. If I could just get this pesky paper finished I could focus on the run.
Maybe I will see you in the morning, or later in the day along the course if you can catch me.
Have a fun race and a great weekend!
Thanks also for your insightful comments on my blog this week. I didn't get to e-mail you, but I appreciated them.
Where in Alaska? I lived on Kodiak Island for five years. Went to Anchorage all the time. Seward's my favorite. Small town charm and glaciers you can climb. I hope the weather's good for your trip...and your upcoming relay race. Your days sounds pretty packed for a good while.
Wow - Alaska - how neat!!
Best of luck to ya this weekend!
ALASKA!! Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon? That's on my Dream List! :-)
Glad you found a replacement team member for tomorrow, but I'm sorry to hear about Darcy's back. Ouch.
Hope she heals fast.
And as for YOU! Have a great relay and TRIP to ALASKA! :-)
Hey, have fun there, ok? You always do:)
Good grief! You're going to need a vacation after all that, girl!
