Time for Two-a-Days
It's getting harder and harder to take this recovery slowly. I'm beginning to feel anxious about getting the two-a-days going. I ran yesterday morning for around 45 minutes, then last night at the track (and in the 70-some-degree heat) for 40 minutes. I'm feeling pretty good - so I think next week I'll bump my morning runs up to 50-55 minutes and add an extra run on Tuesday. That's if I can fit it into my busy schedule that day...it may have to shift to Wednesday. I prefer the rhythm of Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday two-a-days. Monday and Friday are rest days from running with Pilates in the morning. Wednesday and Saturday are one run days. It just flows better and allows a little recovery. The Rainier to Ruston 50 mile relay is on June 4th, so I feel the urge to get training. And it's really not that long till the Rainier to Pacific 153 mile relay on July 21/22. I had intended to have two solid months as a base going into R2R and three into R2P. Instead, I'll be a month short on each. Plus, I want to start testing that eight mile barrier that I've had. Anyway you look at it, I need to get going.
Jessica and I had a fun day yesterday. After she got home from school, we went out to Riley's track meet. The weather was beautiful and we were competing against Rogers HS (where we do our speedwork) - so we knew kids on both teams. Jessica is running 6th grade track, so she was very interested in the races. Riley jumped to 5'6", and was out at 5'8". As we left the track meet to go pick Eric up at the train and head to the other track for our own workout, we got a call from him. He'd missed the last train from Seattle. He decided to catch a bus, take it to the Auburn station and ride his bike to Starbucks from there. Bummer for him! I think there were about 11 of us at the track to run - hardly anyone was doing speed work, most of us just ran. Jamal gave Jessica some running tips that she felt improved her speed. Once we got to Starbucks, Eric finally rolled in. He looked hot and a little tired. We finally made it home about 8:30. Today is our last day with Jessica and Max, the dog. She'll be going home this evening. It's been a fun and easy week with her - she's a great kid, polite, easy-going and fun to hang out with.

You certainly are recovering quickly. Good for you!!! Really glad to hear you're getting back to your old self and feeling so much better.
Wow! That's a lot of people at a track workout. Must be the fairweather runners getting back at it. I actually took the night off and stayed home and watched King King. See ya tomorrow.
I know how difficult it is to take things easy in getting back into running. I've gotten four runs in and one walk this week. Will see how I feel in the morning and decide if a fifth run is called for. Hope the training for the races goes well.
Two-a-days? You really are feeling better!
Took me a second to figure out what you meant by two-a-days... When I got it, I just sat back in awe.
