Progressing...
I'm feeling good about my build back to normal distances. I ran yesterday and today for about 45 minutes each time. Everything feels good - sore muscles and blisters are gone - and I feel like I could run longer. I'm behaving myself though and taking this recovery slowly. I have a little tenderness at the belly-button incision point, but that's it. It is actually much easier to run now than it was before surgery because the extreme fatigue I was fighting is gone. I feel like I have all kinds of energy. In fact, I had a nap yesterday for the first time since Friday. And not only that, I didn't nap till 1:00 - this from the girl who'd run at 5:30 am and be napping at 7:30 am! By golly, I think I'm cured!
I've been back in the classroom this week as well. I've missed all my preschool friends during the last month, so it's been great to be back with them. Yesterday was pretty funny - one little girl (3 years old) ran up to me flapping her arms saying "I'm penis-is, I'm penis-is" and I'm thinking "What?!?" She finally said, "Penis-is, the flying horse". It was so hard not to burst out laughing but to continue the conversation at this point. "Oh, Pegasus, the flying horse?", "Yes, Penisis. He has wings!" And you wonder why I love my job!
On the home front, it's going really well with Jessica visiting. We've settled into a routine all ready. Home from school, snack, walk the dogs, homework/TV/reading, dinner and then Eric and I take turns playing pool with her. Last night we watched American Idol together. The dogs are getting along great and have become friends - they were running laps around the pool table and sliding on the wood floor yesterday. The cat has even decided to venture out and join the crowd.
Tomorrow is double-run day. I'll go 45 minutes in the morning and then 30 to 40 at the track. Should be fun!

Michelle, you are doing great! I know how you feel about little ones, i used to love working with pre-schoolers, my favorite age group. they are so receptive to stories!
Wonderful that you are feeling better and that you have more energy!
Oh yes, good ole penis-is the flying horse. One of my favorites.
Glad to hear you are recovering fast and are feeling so much better!
Good job on the recovery -- and the run!
Those kids sound hilarious!
Way to go on your recovery, Michelle. You are doing great and I'm betting you are running sub-10 minute miles in no time at all!
yay, sounds awesome!!!
Thank you Michelle, for your encouraging words. Very cool that you have homeschooled your guys!
Glad to hear you're on the mend.
You are being very sensible with the running - well done on being so restrained. Oh, and yes, kids that young can be really hilarious.
