Feeling Good!

I am feeling good! Still have incision pain, still get tired, but I really feel good! And I can eat all kinds of stuff - including apples, oranges and bananas. All had dropped off my radar screen in either the last couple of years or months. And the overwhelming, fuzzy-minded, heavy-limbed, it-is-work-to-breathe fatigue is gone. Life is good. I'm enjoying every little thing I do right now. I had been told that I would be amazed at how good I would feel after surgery and it is true. I'm beginning to realize that it has been a long time since I have felt really good. I can't wait to get back to running and see if there is a change there too!

I won't be rushing into it, in fact I am actually enjoying my time off. It's not too hard to hold back when all the muscles in the abdomen ache - although that is improving every day. I have to say that I think this is an easy layoff compared to a running injury. I know it is short-lived and I know there isn't anything that is going to keep me from going right back at it. When a running injury is involved things are a lot more dicey and unpredictable. I also think I had lots of time to mentally prepare for time off. That said, I'm feeling fat. I'm not walking real far yet, no Pilates and no running - no exercise feels strange. I'm pretty sure it's all in my head, but I still feel chunky. It's funny, I remember hearing a friend (who is a Marathon Maniac) complaining about feeling fat during the taper leading up to Boston. I thought she was nuts, but I get it now. On the other hand, it's helping me control that urge to eat everything in sight!

Glad you're feeling better. It's amazing how you don't realize how bad you feel until you feel better. You'll be up and running in no time :)

Glad to hear that you are feeling so much better. I am not sure when I will see you next, but enjoy the break from running and the new foods you can add back in to your diet. I be a nice juicy steak would taste good.

Glad the recovery is going so well. It's amazing how accustomed we become to feeling bad over time. And knowing that you are feeling so much better affirms that the surgery was a good thing. Time to get used to feeling good.
