Windstorm

Unlike Rob, we never lost power. Flickers and surges, yes. We had an awful lot of branches come down though. We have 10 large cedars and firs in our yard and they were dropping 9-12 foot branches, 2-3 inches in diameter. One shook the house so hard that the globe of our laundry room light fixture fell off and shattered. We were lucky though, we have four big skylights and none were hit. The only other damage was an attic vent on the roof - Eric said that it was lucky it was there or that one would have punched a hole through. Poor guy, today he had to climb up on the roof to throw branches off and check for damage - I always find it scary when he's up there. We sent Riley and his buddy out back to pile the branches in one spot. They ended up with a huge pile that covers half our patio!

Today is our son Riley's 17th birthday! Hard to believe our baby is 17...

My friend Sonya told me today that my posts are really long. I'll try to keep this one shorter.

We had a small group out from the Y today - only seven of us. Of course, five more showed up for coffee. Amy, who is having a baby this Thursday, and her husband, Tim, joined us, and so did Rick, who is recovering from knee surgery, Barb, who still might have to have knee surgery, and Sonya, who is having an awful bout of vertigo. I like that everyone still makes it to coffee even if they can't run. Our run was nice (but cold), Carolynn and I started out together, then I slowly pulled ahead of her. She hasn't been running much since early fall, and is just getting back into it. I got about 53 minutes in today. Tomorrow, we'll check out a newly paved portion of our local Rails-to-Trails trail. I hope it's a little bit warmer!

Tell Riley Happy Birthday. I hope you have already had the birds and bees talk with him.

Sounds like Lady Luck was on your side! We didn't have an issues up north, at least that I am aware of.

As for your "long posts", I have found mine get long from time to time, and it does make for less comments, but my blog is about me and my life... sometimes I have a lot to say :) I find pictures help keep attention also. Hmm... this is a long comment, isn't it? haha.

Okay, I'll have to do a post on the branch that dropped off my cottonwood tree. Glad everyone is okay, and many happy returns to Riley!
