New Challenge on the Horizon

Eric and I have an anniversary coming up in a couple weeks - 29 years. We've been debating what we might want to do for it. We even (gasp!) talked about a weekend away without a race. However...I kind of wanted to run the Baker Lake 50K and it's that weekend. I've been tossing it around, wondering if I should, and then...last night at dinner with Steve and Lorri, Eric said he'd run it with me if I wanted to. Yippee! That is what I call an anniversary gift - Eric running with me, in the forest for 32 miles. I'm thrilled and I'm anxious. I'm not real sure how it'll go - I haven't done a trail 50K yet and I don't know if I can make the cut-off time at the turnaround. But, who really cares? Because I'll have the best of all worlds going on: running in the woods of the beautiful PNW with my sweet husband of 29 years. I'm not sure it gets any better than that...

Before Baker Lake, Eric and Rob have the Plain challenge - that'll be our focus for next weekend. Then, on to the anniversary run!

Happy anniversary! What a great gift! I'd say your man knows you quite well. :) You've got a good one, don't you?

So will this be the last time I hear, "We never go anywhere unless it's for running", or should I keep that option open?

Woo hoo! Plan something fun!

I always remember your anniversary (including the year) because it coincides almost perfectly with my birthdate (and year!). :)

That sounds like my kind of anniversary weekend. I'm sure it will be great. Hopefully Eric will be able to keep up with you.

Both of you are so lucky to be healthy enough to celebrate your anniversary that way. That's such a great idea, especially for the two of you.

Wow, 29 years, now that is a long time. You guys are lucky - I would love to have a partner that shares my love for running.

Do people actually go somewhere without it being running related? I kinda, sorta remember doing that. Tee hee.

Never a dull moment at your house.

What a romantic guy you have there! That is an awesome gift. And so what if you don't make the cutoff time at the turnaround point? Maybe you could pull a Bonny and Clyde and be bandits. Not that I'm in favour of that sort of thing, of course, but it would add an element of excitement and allure, right? Either way, honey, you've already won. 29 years is your prize. This race is just the icing on the cake.
