More Relay Pictures

The artist at work.

The guys in our van like running skirts...

Steve's running, Margaret's taking pictures, leaving the four of us for the group shot.

Getting ready for the start. Notice the PNW high fashion of ugly socks & birkies?

Instructions from the RD - Steve in the middle.

Rob on the run.

Relay buddies.

Waiting...

Mad Monkey yodels to runner...

My first exchange.

Happy to be done with her first leg.

Rick by Alder Lake

Jenny is a gazelle!

Do not take my picture while I'm putting on this heart rate monitor!

Ready to exchange...now in the new high-fashion flippy running skirt.

Rest when and where you can.

The loot at the end.

All photos are courtesy of Margaret, which explains why she isn't in them. It also appears that as the relay moved into night, and runners became tired, we stopped taking pictures. See the post below for a few from the next morning that Eric took.

I am officially on vacation, though we don't head to the Death Race till next week. I also found out today I'm up for another root canal on one of my front teeth - for reasons unknown, it is dying on me. Maybe my advanced age of 50? This will be my third root canal in the last nine months. Sheesh! It started giving up at the beginning of July, and is slowly starting to darken. I'll get it fixed before we go, and we'll discuss restoration when I get back. Oh joy!

For now though, I'm enjoying my first full day off work, and looking forward to meeting Sarah at the Death Race. We're hoping to get out for a run, and maybe, if it doesn't interfere with her volunteering duties, she'll help me crew. I can't wait!

Great pix, Michelle.

You know, a lot of folks would say "I'd rather have a root canal than go running."

Not you. Not any of us.

Enjoy the vacation!!!

Michelle,

Oh what fun this was! My favorite pictures are the one where you're giving the camera the stern look about not photographing while you're putting on the heart rate monitor and the mad monkey car detailing.

Thanks for sharing fun pictures, including cute ones of You!

After reading about your 3 root canals, I think I'll do some research on naturopathic sites on the internet to see what I can find about prevention. I had one last Christmas. Ugh.

Thanks for your encouragement. We appreciate!!!!!!

Give me an R, give me a 2, give me a P.

With that flippy little skirt all you need is a couple of pom poms.

Love the pics and sorry to hear about the root canal.

Sorry to hear that the organization was typical for R2P. Sounds like you had fun, but that is brutal with only 1 van. I bet you were the only team that actually appreciated the 1 hr. layover! :) Congrats on being 1st in your division. ;)

Great pictures!

Yeah, great photos. You really know how to have a good time don't you.

Have a great time visiting our fair country - all the best to Eric.

I love the photos, especially the "do not take my photo putting on my heart rate monitor" -- that look is priceless!

I had a root canal many, many years ago on a front tooth. You have my sympathies.

Socks and Birkies, eh? Well, all I can say is that I hope you have your Sorels (http://www.sorel.com/) ready for your trip to Canada. That's what we wear with running skirts here.

And yes, I am kidding. We wear Birks, too. Even in the -40C...

Safe travels. See you soon!

Love the pictures. And the skirt!

Raw food breakfast is just fruit. Our local supermarket had this great offer, mangoes for 49 cent each for the entire July. One mango is usually sufficient to satisfy my post-run appetite, but I have an apple as well if I'm still hungry. Later I usually have a selection of fruit, e.g an orange, an apple and a kiwi.

I don't eat on the run, so that's not an issue. But I know an ultra runner who swears by grapes, even though he's not on a raw food diet.
