Race Madness

It has happened. Race madness has come upon me...I find myself looking at races, thinking about which ones I could squeeze into the schedule...and Eric is no help, no help at all. He's looking at other races, which makes me look at them too, and, and, and...it's madness!

Two specific races are on our radar right now. The Peterson Ridge Rumble, far, far away in the middle of the wild state of Oregon, and the North Discovery Olympic Marathon, out in Sequim. Eric is thinking about the Rumble, and casually mentions that they have a 30k too. I'm thinking we need redemption at North Discovery - Eric had a stomach bug and bailed halfway, I simply had a tough and lousy race. We need to think fast though, because both are filling up.

We've had wild weather here this week - snow, hail, rain, sun, wind - sometimes all in the same hour. We've had several days of big fat flakes falling, piling up on our blooming trees, then melting off and starting over. It feels really cold too. I ran Tuesday and Wednesday, rested again on Thursday. Today I got a total of seven miles in between the regular run and the run with the beginners group. Mileage over the past three weeks has been: 65 miles, 5 miles, 21 miles. Pretty good recovery cycle I think. Next weekend is the Yakima Canyon Marathon - I think I'm recovered and good to go!

And finally, the Eric surprised me with a gift this week. Four bags of these:

Marc is running the Rumble 60k (in my place again), so if you go we'll see you there! Have fun at Yakima. I'll have to add that one to my race list one of these years. : )

Race Madness: I love it! Would you believe I was reading marathon web sites this afternoon. Madness.

Looking forward to your race reports.

That sounds like wild weather.. Your weather usually becomes ours.

Ridge Rumble....OH!!! I want to do that one (the 30K) but DH worries I'll stumble and injure myself. It is the last long run before I taper for Eugene so I am a little apprehensive myself. If you do it... so will I !!! I hope they haven't filled up yet.

What a great gift! :D

You forgot to have some flipped over with the M&M side showing! So sweet of Eric. Literally. :) Notice you left out a certian event for the week. That's okay. We'll let it slide. Hope your run tomorrow goes well along Ruston.I'll be thinking of you while I'm spinning or on the eliptical.

Hi Michelle, I'm back, the weather and my knee have gotten the best of me it seems this year, but still have gotten 2 marathons in, I hope I'm back to blogging...getting too many people asking me, even local friends that I had no idea were looking at my blog...

I noticed you have already received a little bit of peer pressure to do the Peterson Ridge Rumble, and I certainly don't want to add MORE pressure, but you and Eric should do it! If you decide to do it, I will see you there. = )

Um, I couldn't figure out what these were until I read the comments. MnM's, it seems? When I first looked at them, I immediately thought they were personalized gel-coated pain relieving pills. I thought, oh Eric, what a jokester! Ha hah! Now the personalized MnM thing, that's cute!

Good luck deciding on a race!

I haven't even run my first marathon and I'm already planning fall races. For all I know, I'll hate it!

I hope to see you at Yakima - I'm finally starting to get nervous about it.

Personalizes M&M's, how cool.

More races means less required long runs, right?
