Solo Run

This morning found me heading out the door at 5:30 am for a solo 15 mile run. It's been a while since I've done a long run on my own. I needed to get a longer run in this weekend, and the way things lined up, I wanted to do it today (mostly because we have a neighborhood bunco party tonight and I wanted to be able to stay up late!). I had to be to work at 10:00, so I needed to be done by 9:00. I gave myself a bit of extra time and started early. My plan was to run the hill run - 6 miles - come back to the house for fueling, then out for 5 more, back to the house, then 4 more. It was perfect running weather - about 45 degrees and a light mist. (That is perfect when you consider the ice and pouring rain we've been having!)

I took it easy on the hill run and cruised back to the house about when I expected. Eric met me at the door and had me come in so he could show me how to turn the water back on so I could get a shower before work - we had a leak in the wall and he planned to fix it after his run . My next loop was shorter than I thought - four miles - so after stopping by the house again, I went back out for five. I ran to a local park and did loops around the lake. Rob reminded me that it would be good practice for the 50 miler, which will also be one mile loops around a lake. I really had a great run - lots of energy and everything coming together well. I even ran the lake loops at a faster pace than the earlier miles. I love runs like todays! Total time was 3:16 and I figure about 10 minutes of that was stopping at the house.

Since I had to work, I missed the regular Saturday run with the running group, and I also missed the first day of our training program for new runners. Eric, Wendy, Steve and Jessica met with about nine new runners to start our Couch to 5K program. That's eight more runners than last year, plus I know a few more that will be starting next week. Pretty exciting!

Well, gotta go now, gotta hot date with my hubby and the dice!

Michelle, sounds like a delicious run. I am so envious. I need to run. I have run every other week. Last week in DC was nice, but then I got an awful cold that sent me to bed for the week. I am pretty much recovered, but need to take it easy because I suffer asthma...

The best of your day is having your hot date with your hubby. I will have mine next week when my lover and husband will come from Cali. Haven't seen him since our Thailand trip, 1 1/2 months now.

I wish I had the opportunity to run with others. It would be so helpful. Perhaps when the weather/streets improve and we all come out of hibernation once again. :)

This weekend I ran with others for the first time in a LOOOONNNG time. I'm reminded why people do it. Way to go on your 15! And have fun with the newbies!
