The Best Toy

Christmas Eve 2007

Okay, a quick post-Christmas update. We had a great holiday, relaxed and fun. Schedules have been off kilter all week, but I've got my runs in, and best of all have used my new toy. It's an Indo Board balance trainer. A lady in my Pilates class brought one in to show me a couple months ago - I loved it and figured it would be the perfect thing to help prepare for trails.

Here is a picture in all my Christmas morning glory - my new robe, the tiara that Santa left in my stocking, on the board for the first time. It came with both roller and ball. The roller is very difficult - I still need to brace when I use it (and I learned that I need to use something much heavier than a chair, like the wall or the couch).

We inflated the ball to the max and I have been using it daily. The ball offers instability in all directions. My hope is to strengthen my ankles and feet, as well as developing better balance.

It can also be used for other types of training...

The Last Chance Marathon is on Monday. I'm hoping for nice weather - so far the forecast is for clear and sunny (and cold). Last year the course was modified due to trail damage, but it looks as though we're back on the regular route this year. It is a double out and back on a wide gravel trail. Rob, Steve, Eric and Margaret are all running it as well - it should be a fun day!

Enjoy another long weekend and Happy New Year!

Those are cool. I saw them when researching info on how to strengthen the ankles. You do look like a princess :-)

My chiropractor wants me to get an indo board. Looks great!

Do you think the tiara will work for running?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the weather at Last Chance.

Hey- I looked online at these last night. Where did Santa find yours? Anywhere local or online? Looks cool and easy to do while watching tv and fun for the kids too I see!

I laughed audibly at the Christmas morning photo of you. You are so cute standing on your Indo board with your robe and your tiara!

By the sound of it, you and your family had a lovely Christmas! And, I have to agree, Santa took very good care of you this year!

I love your ball and sk8-board combo - that is awesome! Merry Christmas to you and your family. I love the family picture. It's rare to get everyone together in a picture looking ha-ha-happy!

So, I hear you're dipping in Lake Padden. You are crazy. I love Lake Padden (in the summer), but have never dipped in the winter.

Here's to a great '07 and more to come in '08!
