Portland Marathon - short report

FINISH: 5:20:04 pace: 12:13
Chip Time: 5:20:04
Gun Time: 5:28:20
Average heart rate: 153
High heart rate: 167

PR in both chip time (by 8 minutes 33 seconds) and gun time (by 17 seconds)! And a 38 minute improvement over last year's Portland. Not the 5:15 I was aiming for, but darn close and I am very happy with it. Many thanks to Rick for training and running with me, and to Jenny for hosting us at her parents. Thanks to my personal slave too! Long report and pictures soon...

That's awesome, Michelle! Congrats on the PR. You looked really strong when I saw you on the out and back. And I agree about the Starbucks doubleshot station! Maybe around mile 22. : )

Michelle, it was so great to see you guys again, and to hear a cheer for me from your #1 fan. Please keep him, he's great.

Wonderful to hear how well you did, you've had some tough races this year and its really time you started having good ones. Very few of us ever hit our goal exactly, for many of us, settling for "close" is as good as it gets.

Look forward to seeing you guys again soon.

You did very well, congratulations on the PR! It was a great day after all. Have a nice recovery now. It was nice to run into you and your crew. I tried looking for you on the 'out and back' section, but missed you because you were too speedy!

That's an amazing time, Michelle. I thought of you this weekend and was so glad you weren't in Chicago instead. Can't wait to read all about it.

Congratulations, Marathoner!!!

Sweet Pea and I were among the ten thousand runners in the Chicago Marathon who walked to the finish after they shut down the race.

Congrats on a great race! I am sure that the 5:15 goal is not too far out of reach even though it might have felt like it the last 6 miles. I bet you will get that time in year 2 of marathoning.
