Oh Happy Day!

Riley got accepted at Pacific Lutheran University - and he got an academic scholarship that will pay half his tuition for the year! We are very excited tonight. He turned in the application packet on Friday and they called him today to give him the good news. It does this homeschooling heart proud - graduating with his AA was step one, this is step two. There was always this little tiny fear way in the back of my mind that maybe I didn't know what I was doing, maybe no college would take them, maybe, maybe, maybe... My heart told me I was doing the right thing, my gut confirmed it, but my the part of my mind dedicated to worrying did what it does best and worried. So tonight I breathe another huge sigh of relief.

PLU is a local school and Riley is planning to live at home and commute. He's an easy-going kid, easy to have in the house. Life is good!

Does this mean that Garrison Keillor will make joking comments about our son's school? He's always poking fun at the Lutherans.

Nice job honey! Way to go Riley!

Hey Michelle and Eric...from one Lutheran to another...you rock...it is great that Riley got accepted and sounds like Michelle did a bang up job in the homeschooling arena...is there anything that she doesn't do well in? What an awesome family...

Happy Day indeed!! Way to go Riley!

Your inner sense about education and kids is on target, Michelle...yet I understand the tendency to question that at times. This is a wonderful confirmation of all the effort!

Tell Eric that you will be subject to some Kiellor humor now... Pastor Inqvest and Carl Krepsbach are now your "kin"!!

And all of the children are clearly above average :-)

I know this was a weight on your shoulders that you carried quietly. It feels so good when they make that step toward grown-up and independence. Congratulations! Not only on Riley's acceptance but for listening to your heart and your gut. Your heart can be fooled but your gut doesn't lie.

I'm proud of both of you! And lucky that he wants to stay at home and commute. You've done a great job and should patent your homeschool style.

Congratulations! That tiny fear can be all gone now. Wishing you all a good year.
PLU is a little more special to us because our son, when he was a student here at Augsburg in MPLS, did a January interim at PLU and had a fine time.
(Of course you did good, Mom!)
