My Next Crewing Experience is...
CCC100! Well, I hope it is. Eric sent in the race app today so as long as it doesn't fill up in the next two days he should be in. I love, love, love crewing at CCC. It'll be a different experience crewing for my own husband instead of Rob. We learned at WS that CREW stands for "Crabby Runner, Endless Waiting". Well, I think Rob was afraid of Olga and I - he never got crabby. Even last year when he felt lousy, he listened to me and did what I said. Rob was too nice. Eric and I have that husband-wife history and relationship that will allow maximum crabbiness with total forgiveness. Lucky for him I am so sweet-natured (hah!).
In other breaking news, I gained weight on vacation. Apparently many glasses of wine and margaritas will do that, along with wonderful meals by Suzy and multiple restaurant outings. So today I began the focus on healthy eating and weight loss again. I know many of you will be jealous of the delicious dinner I had tonight - marinated and barbequed tofu with grilled veggies. Eric and Riley didn't even try it - they went straight for the steak. What's up with that?
I wasn't as good as I promised I'd be in regards to running while on vacation either. I was going to rest for two weeks, but there were just too many cool new places to run. I did manage to skip running for five days in a row, though there was a lot of walking in that time. It helped - my calf is not completely healed, but it is better. I am itching to get back to the hill run and get in some two-a-days, but am still trying to go easy. I'm icing and using arnica cream and ibuprofen every day in an effort to mitigate my continued need to run. I'm going to try to take it easy between now and next week's relay.
That's all the news from this household tonight. Signing off from the shadow of the spectacular Cascades, where the racers are prepping for the big one, the crews and pacers are planning and the excitement is building.

Every other runner, when saying "I wasn't as good as I promised I'd be in regards to running while on vacation" would mean that she didn't run as much as planned. You're the only runner in history who ran more than promised and has to apologise for it.
It should be a fun event. And when I say fun, what I mean is, it doesn't have to be fun to be fun.
I gained weight on the vacation as well and I was only there a couple of days. I'm working on it though.
You sound like you're having so much fun!!
It just never stops around there! Have fun!
Vacations and a little weight gain seem to go hand in hand. Hey, you have to enjoy your time away. :)
Take it easy on your calf this week. I want to see you out there kicking butt at R2P. I probably got the layover location messed up. It sounds like we'll be on the same schedule! :) What leg are you running? I'm running 9.
Michelle-
I'll be gaining weight on Vacation too, Texas style BBQ ya know! No tofu here! Great flight although we had a 3 hour delay in Seattle. I won't be running, but will walk a lot and try to hit the local Y. I am also on the Ibuprofen and Arnica plan. I am taking it orally as well as using the gel. I too, hope it works!!!!! It is sunny and humid now, who knows how long it will last!

Hey - marinated and barbequed tofu with grilled veggies sounds AWESOME!!lol (I'm a vegetarian...) ;)
It's so funny how so many men run away from tofu like it's a kind of disgusting toe fungus or something. "You want me to eat THAT...?"
Oh well - not to worry. A little weight gain while on vacation happens to the best of us. Glad to hear you had a great time. :)
Weight happens...unfortunately for all of us:)
Yay for CCC, guys! It's gonna be fun, as Rob said, sick, but fun!
BBQ Tofu??? I don't think so. I don't think even BBQ sauce helps that stuff.
What is the arnica cream that you mentioned?
How many days till the CCC?
Michelle,
Your food sounds yummy!
I'm quite excited that the Eric and Michelle team are headed back into the 100 realm again!
Good luck with the planning!

CREW indeed!!! LOL!!!
Be good on that calf...it has been good to you!!
You skipped running for five days in a row? What's up with that?
Vacations are meant for putting on weight. Heck, I've put on weight during my taper, and my vacation doesn't even start until next week. (Oh dear!)
I lose weight on vacation and gain it when training. I haven't figured that one out yet...
I'm not a vegetarian but love tofu in all forms, including raw. The BBQ sounds yum!
I love the CREW acronym! I hope Eric gets in.
Also, i am jealous of your dinner - grilled tofu YUM
Michelle can you email please (aggiedad77@yahoo.com)? I have a running club friend that I mentioned is going to do the Mt. Rainier to the Coast 197 mile relay in August and I would like to get her connected with you if possible. Thanks.
That whole husband/wife thing would add an interesting dimension to the runner/crew thing and vice-versa.
I for one would never expect you to be anything other than sweet-natured. You two are quite the team.
