Last Marathon of the Season

The final marathon of my personal season - which runs October through June - has arrived. Sunday is the North Olympic Discovery Marathon. It's a point-to-point from Sequim to Port Angeles, along the Olympic Discovery Trail. I'm well-rested after an entire week off running - and today, for the first time, I had no pain in my calf when I got out of bed. Yippee! Just in time to cause a new bout of irritation! It's got to be better than the last two marathons - I went into those in pain. I'm excited about this marathon - it was on my original "must do" list.

Eric is running the marathon too, Rob is running an ultra at Lake Youngs tomorrow, Jenny was signed up for Lake Youngs but is injured, and Steve is running Lake Youngs. I think Ray and Jane will be at NODM, and possibly Melissa - that depends on her knee. Some of the other Y Runners will be running Sound to Narrows - or, as Eric calls it, our local gut check. This will be the first time we've missed it in about 10 years. I'm very tempted to run it anyway, then the marathon the next day, but figure I shouldn't push my luck with both my breathing and my leg. It should be a fun weekend for everyone! Check in on Elizabeth's blog - she's running an relay this weekend, and has already posted from the van.

I'm spending today at our local street festival working at the college booth. I'm setting up our sensory table, then spending nine hours supervising it. I pulled a quadruple shift because I won't be in town for the rest of the weekend, and I'll also be missing the next festival we'll be set up at. I figure today's long shift makes up for that. The skies are gray right now, but it's supposed to get a little nicer. It should be a fun day - I love people watching, I get to play in birdseed with kids and I'll probably get to eat some fair food. What could be better?

I'll report back on Sunday - till then, have a great weekend!

I just discovered your blog from Addy's blog. It's very well written and I look forward to reading about your back of the pack adventures in your neck of the woods. I live in Ohio! I'm just bowled over by the beautiful pictures from that part of the country. I lived in Seattle when I was very young--first and second grade. I still remember all that GREEN.
