New Blog on the Block

Check out this new blog. That's right, the new blog on the block belongs to Eric. He's decided it's time to join the blogging world and share his WS100 training adventures. And yes, centum means 100.

Rob, Rick and Melissa showed up in the wee hours of the morning for our hill party yesterday. It was dark and stormy (though not as dark and stormy as we are experiencing this very moment). It was a good, solid run and plenty of fun was had by all. We did have one new experience on the run - at least new to me - lightening. I know it's not safe to be out running during a lightening storm, but it didn't start till we were four miles into a six mile run. At that point, we pretty much had to finish it out. We didn't ever hear thunder and the flashes seem far away. Regardless, we all made it home safely. This morning's run was uneventful. My friend Barb and I ran an easy five and beat the rain by about an hour.

Right now there are severe weather warnings for our area. Lots of rain and winds up to 75 mph are expected. We've had a few mighty gusts already. Tonight will be one of the nights that I start thinking we need to take down our three tall firs that are in front of the house. The prevailing winds will drop them right onto our roof. These trees are 45 feet tall and about 10 feet from our front door. We haven't cut them down because 359 days a year we love them. Six days a year, we fear them. Today is one of the six. We also have about eight equally tall trees in the backyard. If they go down, they go into the parking lot of the elementary school - that is scary on those six days as well. It's hard being a tree-hugger in a wind storm.

Thanks for the info on Erics blog! Better find a safe room to sleep in tonight! You're in the back of the house right? It sure is blowing at it's only 6:15! Yikes, it's gonna be an interesting night!

You're getting my weather? That's nice. Wind gusts up to 75 mph is exactly what we had over the last few weeks, but it did get better a few days ago.

Yay! Eric has a blog. Going to add him to my RSS feeder now. I hear you about the wind thing. When I was growing up in Mobile, it was always hurricanes. Fortunately for us, we always had these tremendous Oak trees growing in our yards. They have deep roots and can survive the strongest winds. Unfortunately for us, the pine trees weren't so tough. Stay safe during this storm!! Your family is in my thoughts....

I like the new blog and your new look! I look forward to following both of you as you push the boundaries of endurance, best wishes for a very successful 2007. I’ve been having trouble upgrading my template, I can’t seem to add my header in, how did you get your header into the new template?

You all have so much fun out there, you really have captured the joy of running into your blog! Have a great weekend, and watch out for those gust!

That's great that Eric's going to share his training with everyone. I've got him bookmarked. Meantime, I hope this isn't the same storm heading our way tomorrow and Sunday. And, since I couldn't post earlier -- yes, I like your new blog look too.
