Christmas Day gathering....

It's been busy and fun the last few days. Relaxing too. Web is meeting us at the Christmas Eve event tomorrow night, then coming home for two days. It will be really nice to have all four of us together again for a little while.

Eric and I came in from this morning's run to find this:

Our voracious lab, Sundae, decided to open Riley's gift to Heather this morning. She tore through two sets of wrapping paper and a box to get to the Frangos inside. We think she ate 29 peanut butter Frangos, wrappers and all. She also chewed on the jewelry box that was hidden inside the candy.

It's torn and dented, but the gift inside survived. It also looks like she ate a bow off another package. So far, she's perky and happy - no returns yet. Sundae is nine years old and until the Halloween candy incident, has never done anything like this. In fact, we don't feed her table scraps or people food at all. I don't know what is going on with her - other than that she has developed a taste for sweets. Maybe we should have suspected this would happen way back when she used to fall asleep in the food dish. Riley re-visited the mall and re-wrapped the gift and it is now up high on a shelf.

I've loved reading every one's Christmas musings and wishes. I have no extravagant wishes, no long list of desires. I find myself content with life. I have everything I've dreamed of: love with a wonderful man, two fine sons, family, friends, good health, a job I enjoy, and I've realized my long term dream of running marathons. Life is good and I am thankful. Merry Christmas!

Confucius say: Leave a female near chocolate and it will be eaten.

Don't know about Confucius, I can do without. But Sundae, apparently, can't.
Michelle, you always striked me as some kind of Zen woman: life is good and I am happy. I don't know if I ever can be close, or even want to, but it is soothing to know you like that:) Happy Holidays!

Sounds like someone needs a time-out. Yes, life is good, of course it would be better if I could come out and run in the morning.

Have a Merry Christmas!

I guess you're going to have to call her, "Chocolate Sundae."

I'm amazed at your list. You get things done; I admire that in you. Do you make your pie crust from scratch?

You got to love a face like that. You can't really blame a dog for being a dog. Riley will always remember the year Sundae opened the jewelry early.

Merry Christmas!

Your last paragraph speaks for itself. I'm glad you're in such a good place. Have a Merry Christmas!

Oh, NO! Dogs and peanut butter. They're supposed to have, I don't know, like a million times more senstive smell than we do. And they love peanut butter. liver and learn, I guess!

Come to think of it, Sundae was probably just getting even with you for putting the bells and antlers on her head. :-)

Michelle- How would ever have gotten all that done if you were at the beach with me? Prorbably went to costco for the apple pies and top foods for the rest:) Merry Christmas. P.S. I think Heather would have loved the chewed box! How would she have cared, she's been so anxious to get her present!

My dog once ate through a giftwrapped box of chocolates in my daughter's backpack -- it was a gift for her teacher. She ate wrapping, box, and chocolates. We spent over an hour walking around the neighbourhood in a snowstorm trying to induce vomiting (under vet direction). It was NOT fun. Unfortunately, it's also becoming an annual event -- no matter where we hide the chocolate, she finds it. My dog is part lab:)

Keep that dog of yours in check, and you'll have a happy Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Michelle! Loving what you have is even better than having what you love. Or is it the other way round? Or are both the same?

As to those lists, done and undone... mmmmm... can we come over?

Sundae sounds like she made the naughty list in a nick of time. Merry Christmas, Michelle (and Eric and Web and Riley...)

Hope your Christmas was great!

And I hope the puppy stays out of the chocolate from now on! Yikes. :)
