Scenes from Saturday

Sub-District High School Cross Country Meet. Riley took 36th out of 450 in the JV division. Look at the energy and joy in these pictures!

Much to my delight, we ran into tc at the meet - his daughter was running for another school in the district - and got to chat for a while.

After spending the day at the meet, we followed Riley up to Heather's house so we could see them both in their homecoming finery. (Heather's cat felt compelled to be in the pictures as well.) We let the kids borrow our car for the evening, and headed for home in Riley's car.

As for training: 12 miles yesterday with Jenny and Rick, 5 miles this morning with Rick and Melissa. Total for the week was 35 and change.

Riley did well in the meet. I can't believe there are that many kids all on one course. Must be a lot of elbowing going on out there. I hope Eric taught Riley how to elbow properly without getting caught. And he got the girl at the end too.

I love the sense of movement in the 2nd one. Congrats to your son!

Don't our kids look good when they're all cleaned up for homecoming or prom. Certainly a special day to be remembered.

I love the second picture, with them all storming past. Looks like a seriously busy race, that's a lot of kids out there.

Geesh that's lot of XC runners talk about pre-race jitters!! Great job, his success must b/c he has the best two teachers around!! When I think back to High School I regret not trying XC myself.looks like a lot of fun!

I always enjoyed watching the cross-country meets when I was young. Now I wish I participated in them when I was young (sigh).

Great pics of Riley at the meet and his homecoming! I echo Rob's comment about the number of runners on the course. That looks like a tough crowd :)

Maybe I will join you on Saturday as I have a 90 min run to do myself and it would be great to run with you again!
