Sound to Narrows is Saturday - I can't wait. Eric's new plan is to run the 5K with Riley, then run the 12K with me. That way he gets in a few more miles, but at an easy pace. I can hear them discussing the race in the kitchen as I type. I love the fact that this is a family event, though this will be the first year that Web has missed it. He elected to go camping with friends instead. I guess that's part of growing up and leaving home... This is one of our relay training weekends - race in the morning, potluck at night, late night training run with the Y group after the potluck (headlamps and flashlights required), followed up with an early Sunday morning run. Should be a blast!

Updates on toes and tofu. First the toes - after the beating my toes took last weekend, I gave in and bought Injinji toe-socks. Paul and Colleen at Fleet Feet encouraged me to give them a try, telling me that a lot of people had success with them. Though they felt strange, I decided it was worth an attempt. Well, it's working like a charm. My toes are healing and I'm actually coming in from a run without new blisters. I've dropped from four bandaged toes to two. I'm hoping to lose those band-aids by early next week. I guess the real test of the socks will come this weekend with so many runs so close together. Keep your toes crossed for me!

And since all you guys were so interested in my tofu while I was out of town, I knew you were waiting for me to post about it again. I have tofu jerky marinating as I type this. It'll be ready for the oven tomorrow.

I should have ended the description of my run in Port Townsend by saying that I really enjoyed it. I thought it was fun trying to find my way and exploring the town - as Dori said, it's a wonderful way to see it all! I didn't realize when I wrote about it that it might sound like I was frustrated. I wasn't at all, it was pure fun.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend, and once again, thanks for checking in.

I am tempted to run the Sunday morning run just so I don't get made fun of. I mean first I am skipping the Sound to Narrows then I am not even tough enough to knock out all 3 runs. I don't think so.

Good luck at Sound to Narrows. I can feel a PR in store.

Tofu or not tofu ... that is the question.

Have fun, Michelle!

Did you really get blisters all the time when running? Jeez, maybe I just don't know how lucky I am, just 2 blisters in the last year, despite running with soggy feet half the time.

Good Luck on Saturday!

Running as a family. That must be a great experience. The socks look strange but I'm glad they are working. So are you going to post the recipe for the tofu jerky.

Best of luck this weekend and take care of those toes. Have you ever tried those blister bandaids? I love em.

I'll pay for shipping and materials. Will you make me some jerky? I'll pay...name your price.

On second thought, can you post a picture of it first? Maybe get Rob to sample it first okay?

I hope the race goes well Michelle. Have fun eh.

Can't wait to hear about the run.

I can probably wait to hear about the tofu jerky though... On second thought... Nah, I'm just as curious about that, too!
