Minutiae of My Day

Donald said to write about the minutiae of my day...

Up at 5:30, out for a run by 5:50. Start out slow, whole body feels heavy and tired. Already wondering when my beeper will signal a walk break. Maybe it'll get better. I've been making an effort to get eight to nine hours of sleep a night instead of my usual six or seven. I'm going to bed earlier and sleeping in an extra half hour too - thinking maybe I won't be so tired all the time. It's not working. I feel tired and pukey and I'm looking for the walk breaks way too much. Keep plugging. Promised myself a short, flat course today. Stick it out, finally finish in 42 minutes. My total times are on a downhill slide this week. Started with just shy of an hour with two big hills on Tuesday, dropped to 52 minutes on Tuesday with some rolling hills, went for as close to flat as I could get today.

I get home, stretch, feed the dog, shower and feed myself. Quick check of email and blogs, then it's nap time at 7:45. Sleep for a half hour. Get up, get the car to the dealership for some follow up work from last weeks visit. Kill almost two hours in the waiting room reading. Finally, my car is back and I head home. Feeling pukey again, so grab a handful of soda crackers and check in with Riley (he's on spring break from the community college, just has one high school class, next week college is in and high school is out). Head off to preschool to pick up college registrations. These were due March 15th, but as usual, I'm chasing down the last few. I manage to get three more, will have to go back tomorrow for the last three.

Back home. Nap time! Another 45 minutes. (Forgot to mention the various loads of laundry that I am cycling through between other activities). Now some lunch, and a Zipfizz (hoping it'll give me some energy to get through the track meet). It's time to leave for the track meet, which is way over on the other side of Tacoma. Make sure I leave a little early so I can swing by Starbucks right before I get to the stadium. Meet up with friends there, watch the hurdles, dashs, a couple of relays before Riley starts jumping. He tops out at 5'2". That's a bummer. He's been troubled with pain in one of his Achilles, felt like it was cramping up today. I watch one or two more events and start home. Rush hour. Takes 45 minutes to get back home. Grab the dog and head over to the school for the short version of our walk. Back home. Feed the dog. Check emails and blogs. Start dinner. Call Mom and Dad, then my sister, while folding laundry, unloading dishwasher. Start this post. Run out to open the garage door when I see Eric ride up. Dinner time. Dishes. Back to the post. Still waiting for Riley to get home (This track meet is with a huge school. It really should be in another league, but it is the last school in Tacoma on the Junior High system, as are all the Puyallup schools and most of the county schools, so they're grouped in with us. Track meets with them take forever!) Plans for the rest of the evening...reading for a while then off to bed.

Got to get up even earlier than usual tomorrow so I can drive Eric to the train before heading to the Y to teach Pilates at 6 am. I've got the morning free, then I've got to get over to preschool for those last registrations, get them up to the college, get to the doctor, then to Seattle to pick up Eric and get to Yakima, hopefully arriving before the expo closes.

So there you go. The minutiae of my day - on a week where I'm not working. I sure hope I can drop the naps after the surgery, or at least cut down to one short one!

Zipfizz is an energy powder that you can add to water. It's loaded with B12 and C and stuff.

Off to Yakima!

Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, I hope the zipfizz will help your energy level, but remember, I don't want to have to intervene if your zipfizz addiction gets out of control.

I hope you had a great time in Yakima.
