Rest Day

I was at the same track workout as Rob, but once again, I was watching from the back of the pack. Ironayla and I just cruised around the track, solving all the problems of our world while we ran. We watched the others speed around and tried to move out of their way when they were coming by. This time of year, we are at the high school track in the next little town over - because they have the lights on. There is typically a soccer practice going on while we are running and other people walking the track. It's a very busy place. Come late March or early April we'll move to our "summer" track at a high school near the Y. It doesn't have any lights for winter. I enjoy it more there - it's less busy and they've just built a new park next to it, with a mile or so trail through it. We can leave the track if we want, or just push out the laps. Of course, it's possible that I like it better because it's summer and the weather is better!

Ironayla and I ran for 41 minutes, then headed to Starbucks early. Rob, Jamal, Eric and a couple of other Y Runners joined us about 20 minutes later. Not too shabby for a Thursday double - 47 minutes in the morning and 41 in the evening. I haven't run on Thursday nights for about a month, because I was feeling poorly, but am glad to be back at it now. I also have been keeping my runs short - 45 minutes or less. Now that I'm feeling better, it's time to push them back up to an hour (where I'll bang my head against that one hour boundary!). I'm going to add a second run on Tuesday this next week.

Friday is a rest day for me. No running, just teaching the 6 am Pilates class at the Y, and a two mile walk with the dog later in the day. I actually try to get that walk in every day - more for the dog's sake than mine. Right now we are having wonderful, clear, sunny weather - about 30 in the mornings and mid-50's in the afternoon. Sundae (the dog) and I walk about a half mile to one of the city's oldest parks. It's all forested and mossy, with ferns growing everywhere and a creek through the middle. It's one of the places we'll hit on a Saturday run. I tried to take some pictures yesterday when I was walking through, but I think I might need some camera lessons to get good ones. We got a new camera at Christmas and I haven't used it much (mostly because whenever I might, it's in Eric's hands!).

Today I'm going to try to check out the blog of each person who's left a comment. Suddenly I understand why blogging can become so addictive and take up so much time! Other than housework, I don't have much on my agenda today, so I'll give it a shot.

awesome moss pics! Yeah, once you start getting regular visitors to your blog the pressure is on to give then their due notice too. It can easily get out of control!

Don't you have like all the free time in the world? BTW thanks for the letter of recommendation, I'm glad you had enough time to write it up for me.

Rob, I'll forgive you because I know your jealous! I do have a lot of free time - this is my slack year. Only one child left at home, and he's always on the go. Part time work. The only thing I can say is that a) I'm gonna enjoy it while I can, and b) it's my payback for all the years of homeschooling. In those days the only free time I had was my one hour run each morning!

I'm forever trying to catch up on my reading. Just when I think I have, I hit refresh and bloglines shows like another 20 posts to read. You're so right, very addicting. Do you know when the next Bloggers Anonymous group is meeting?

Hi there....thanks for the comment. Metz is in fact short for Metzger. I know there are a lot of Metzgers out this way, but so far no relation of mine. We are 'East Coast' Metzgers :)
